Senior Research Manager (Focus Nutrition & Health)
Role Summary
As our Senior Research Manager, you will play a key role in advancing ProVeg’s mission by generating and translating evidence that supports the transition to healthy and sustainable food systems. Embedded within the Research Department, you will contribute to shaping evidence-based debates and ensure that robust research is turned into practical insights for policy-makers, institutions, businesses, and civil society.
Working closely with colleagues across programmes, policy, communications, and country teams, you will serve as the research lead within ProVeg’s programme matrix teams. In this role, you will help shape research priorities, design and oversee studies, and ensure high-quality deliverables that directly support programme goals.
You will translate evidence into practical insights that strengthen policy and corporate advocacy efforts, ensuring research is relevant, timely, and actionable for decision-makers. This role suits someone who combines creativity with analytical rigour, takes ownership of complex projects, and understands how research can drive meaningful change in food systems.

Location: Remote, ideally based in Germany or Spain. However, we welcome candidates globally who possess the permanent right to work in their country of residence and are able to follow a working timetable that includes core collaboration hours of 10am - 4 pm CET.
Hours: 32–40 hours per week
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver research projects as part of ProVeg’s Global Programmes and impact areas, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Identify opportunities and research gaps to support the achievement of programme and organisational strategy objectives.
Work closely with colleagues across teams, countries, and disciplines to align efforts and avoid silos.
Generate clear, actionable insights on consumer behaviour, needs, and market trends related to plant-based foods and plant-forward diets.
Monitor and interpret developments in the plant-based, nutrition, and health landscape, identifying emerging trends, risks, and white-space opportunities.
Translate complex data into compelling narratives, recommendations, and visuals for cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external audiences.
Produce high-quality research outputs, including academic publications, flagship reports, policy briefs, blogs, and thought-leadership materials that position ProVeg as a credible authority in nutrition and health.
Contribute to shared organisational knowledge by documenting methods, tools, and learnings that others across ProVeg can build on.
Support the Comms Departments with press requests and media releases, answer internal research requests in a timely manner, and prepare briefings or presentations for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for speaking engagements or external meetings.
Lead own projects from design to implementation, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations and support in budget acquisition, project implementation plans, including risk mitigation and project team management
Task manage or supervise other team member(s) as required
External engagement
Build relationships with key strategic partners that help us achieve our goals
Represent ProVeg and give presentations and talks at specialised events/conferences, as required
Qualifications
Required:
You bring a Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, sustainable development, environmental sciences, consumer research, or a related field and at least 5 years of work experience.
Proven experience working within a federated network, global secretariat, or organization with semi-autonomous country offices.
Pragmatic, solution-oriented and supportive approach and behaviour in all contexts to promote ProVeg's vision and mission
You demonstrate strong analytical and evidence-based thinking, with the ability to balance ambition with methodological rigour.
You bring experience with data analysis and research tools (e.g. R, Stata, SAS, SPSS) as well as survey design and mixed-methods research.
You have hands-on experience designing and delivering qualitative and quantitative research
You communicate complex findings clearly through strong writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
You have project management experience and are comfortable owning timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
Willingness to travel to conferences and relevant stakeholder meetings
You are fluent in written and spoken English and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders in multicultural settings. Additional languages an advantage
Preferred/nice to have
You bring a PhD in nutrition, sustainable development, environmental sciences, economics, marketing, development studies, or a related field.
You have contributed to academic publications or high-profile research and thought-leadership outputs.
You bring experience working with commercial, market, or consumer insights to support initiatives that accelerate the uptake of plant-forward or sustainable food products across different markets.
