Role Summary
As our Global Director of Strategic Communications, you are the Chief Narrative Officer for ProVeg, responsible for transforming our strategy into a unified, high-impact global narrative that accelerates the protein transition and drives organisational funding. This is a role for a senior, authoritative leader with an extensive existing media network and a bold, solutions-first vision for getting things done. You will act as the key strategic advisor to the Global CEO and SLT, defining our high-level public voice and ensuring our experts secure top-tier media opportunities to elevate ProVeg's global reputation and public standing. You will build and lead a high-performing team, setting evidence-based objectives and prioritising where we can win to deliver measurable engagement with media, policymakers, and investors.

Location: Fully Remote. We welcome candidates globally who possess the permanent right to work in their country of residence and are able to follow a working timetable that ideally includes core collaboration hours of 10 am - 4 pm CET.
Hours: full-time
Salary: €60-85k depending on location

Responsibilities
High-Impact Media & Reputation Management
Use your existing network and develop new high-level media relationships to ensure ProVeg’s insights are front and centre in top-tier global business and policy media outlets (e.g. FT, BBC, Guardian, NYT).
Act as a senior adviser to the Global CEO and SLT on reputation management and media appearances.
Drive a "thought leadership" engine that positions ProVeg experts as the go-to source for food system transformation, leveraging AI-driven insights to anticipate narrative trends, address misinformation dynamics, and ensure our content is timely and strategically targeted.
Elevate ProVeg as an expert voice in the food system transition, leveraging our track record to secure high-impact presence at major national and global forums and create exclusive engagement opportunities for prospective donors.
Strategic Narrative & Funder Engagement
Lead the development of a funder-centric narrative strategy that translates ProVeg’s impact into compelling content for philanthropy, investors, and high-level stakeholders in climate, environment and health; ensuring our external communications are optimised to convert interest into long-term investment.
Develop and execute a multi-market global communications strategy that drives narrative shifts, making plant-rich food systems a priority for decision-makers and addressing polarisation on food systems transformation.
Define how we measure the impact of our strategic communications on organisational and programmatic goals, working with Programme Leads and our Impact team, including leveraging AI for more sophisticated impact measurement and foresight.
Integrate AI & Technology: Identify, champion, and lead the strategic adoption of AI tools and best practices within the INT Communications department. The goal is to maximise operational efficiency, improve data-driven decision-making, and accelerate key mission outcomes, while upholding data privacy and ethical standards.
Oversee the development of strategic communications plans for ProVeg’s flagship Global Programmes – from insight and strategy to content, campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and measurement.
Team Leadership & Operations
Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing global communications team, fostering a culture of excellence, creative problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Foster AI Literacy: Champion a culture of continuous learning and AI literacy across the global communications team, empowering staff to use AI tools securely and responsibly to enhance human expertise, creativity, and strategic thinking.
Set OKRs, manage budgets, and streamline workflows to ensure maximum efficiency.
Champion inclusive and effective communication practices that empower our 14 national teams.
Brand Integrity & Editorial Direction
Oversee and maintain the ProVeg brand, ensuring visual and verbal consistency across all global markets while maintaining a clear identity that resonates with key audiences.
Provide clear guidance and capacity-building tools to international and programme teams on content narrative, positioning, and tone.
Uphold the ProVeg Writing Style Guide and messaging frameworks across all platforms.
Oversee the development and governance of owned channels, including the optimisation of the ProVeg website and global newsletters.
Oversee the development and execution of our internal communications strategy, making recommendations on how we can improve communications with globally distributed employees.
Competencies
Required:
You bring an extensive network of top-tier international media contacts and a proven ability to craft narratives that break through the noise to secure coverage in top-tier outlets.
You are a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of how to influence B2B and policy actors through communications, skilled in leveraging AI-enhanced data for evidence-based decision-making and a persuasive communications style.
You demonstrate commitment to the responsible and ethical application of AI in communications, including ensuring data privacy, quality control, and the preservation of our organisational voice and tone.
You have a proven track record of managing diverse, high-performing, globally distributed communication teams and delivering results within a matrix structure, preferably within an international federated network.
You are experienced in multi-market communication, demonstrating a hands-on ability to lead complex communications campaigns across multiple international jurisdictions, successfully navigating diverse cultural contexts and varying media, policy, and regulatory landscapes globally.
You lead by example - you’re as comfortable directing a global launch as you are drafting a press release when the pressure is on.
You prioritise open and honest communication, demonstrate excellent judgement under pressure, make evidence-based decisions, and are comfortable managing trade-offs and navigating crisis/risk communications.
You bring strong alignment with and passion for ProVeg’s mission and vision, and familiarity with the food systems, climate, and/or public health spaces.
Preferred:
Experience identifying, piloting, and integrating specialised and proven AI solutions (beyond core infrastructure tools) to achieve breakthrough results in high-impact communications functions.
Experience developing and executing communications strategies for programmes or portfolios.
Experience of working with and overseeing agency partners.
You bring strong digital strategy expertise across web, email, AIEO, SEO, and social; familiarity with CRM/automation and analytics tools.
You have experience with crisis scenarios, misinformation dynamics, and reputation management.
You speak additional languages.
